Estimated Soluble Salts By Electrical Conductivity

EC

Summary

This method estimates the amounts of soluble salts in the water by measuring the electrical conductivity (ECe) of the water sample. The higher the concentration of salt in a solution, the higher the electrical conductance (the reciprocal of resistance). Electrical conductivity is a function of quantity and specific types of cations and anions in the water. The method has a detection limit of 0.01 dS/m.

Sample amount requested: 25 mL

Questions concerning limited sample size can be answered by the UC Davis Analytical Laboratory.
